On the 25th January 2011, our wonderful, perfect, beautiful Lucky Dog passed away.  Our grief is unknowable.  It is hard to write these words without emotion.  Lucky came from Babbington Rescue 2 years ago when she was 7.  She deserved so much more.  What her name was before, what her life was like before, how long she was wandering the streets before we will never know, nor do we need to know.  The only thing that is important is that time that we have with each other.  The quietest dog in the place, she soon perked up when with us, made the leather sofa her bed and refusing to eat dog food unless a chicken was mixed in…..a freshly cooked chicken every week no less – just for her.  She didn’t have the best eyesight in the world when she first came to us, but steadily worsened, bumping into furniture, the cats, trees, walls, lamp posts.  She really couldn’t see a lot but that made her all the more special.  The house is quiet, the nights are long, our hearts are heavy but also filled with pride, our lives are all the more enriched from being blessed to have her presence.  I will miss: her being on the settee when walking in, her bumping into things, her rolling over to show her belly, acting like a goon on the park, her smell, our walkies.  I will miss her.  Lucky, we love you more than words can say, you were perfect xxx.
