We went canoeing on the River Derwent at Matlock in the Peak District. We should have known a lot better, should have known we would have ended up in the water. If I’d have been in my canoe or kayak, I would have been fine. All those times we’ve been to Scotland and Wales with our own kayak and its been fine. But this was a double canoe with Sam at the front paddling furiously away, ignoring instruction and leaning the wrong way for an unceremonious trip into the water, in front of everybody. Should also have known I pressed the wrong button on the GoPro that Sam was wearing to miss the splash. At one end you have amazing Olympians canoeists, at the other end of the spectrum you have us, But I bet they don’t laugh as much as us.
